A native English speaker, I have studied English thoroughly including reading grammar guides (e.g. Fowler’s, Strunk and White, and over a dozen quotations books) for fun, have professionally written a private verbal SAT practice tests, have always been a voracious reader, and even studied linguistics for a year at a top language school in France receiving a foreign language certification. In addition to my English skills, proficiency in a second language makes me all the more aware of the way language is constructed. Because of this background, my most well-published professor at Oxford wrote that I wrote better than almost any of his American students and awarded me Oxford’s highest mark. This background has enabled me to earn in the top percents on standardized tests (e.g. GRE, GMAT, SAT, ACT), and I would be delighted to help you with English too.
My academic studies, personal experience, and professional passion combine to assist you in gaining English fluency. Academically, I have studied at the Center of Applied Linguistics in Besancon, France. The CLA is arguably the most prestigious language school in France. Over the course of a year, these intensive studies ranged across all aspects of second language acquisition, including grammar, syntax, and phonetics and have led native French speakers to exclaim, “I have lived in the United States for 8 years, and my English is nowhere near as good as your French!” My additional language studies include accents, accent reduction, and additional classroom study in Spanish, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Turkish. Via private tutoring, I have helped students from native Spanish, French, Chinese, and Arabic speaking backgrounds. Still, what truly sets me apart–aside from having learned a foreign language fluently as an adult–is my sensitivity and affinity for language–acquired over years of riveted study of the great grammar guides (e.g. Fowlers, MLA, Chicago, the Economist, Bierce, Stunk and White), growing up loving the most eminent dictionary in the English tongue (i.e. the Oxford English) and dozens of quotations books that exemplify these concepts in the best way to have ever graced the ear of anglophone-kind. I understand personally the challenges of learning a new language and expressing it with perfection. For these reasons, I can understand and explain language better than other ESL practitioners. So contact me today, and perhaps you will be able to speak perfect English proverbially tomorrow.
I have won local speech and case competitions, served as the president of Federal Reserve Board Toastmasters, earned my Toastmasters Competent Communicator certification, taken courses in Public Speaking and Argumentation and Debate and numerous courses in acting, performed professional Shakespeare, and have a repertoire of prepared technical and general speeches and customizable speeches available on request.
